Basic Understanding of Human Rights, Genocide


“Human rights” is a delicate and often controversial term in today’s interconnected world. We often hear it on the news: Nations violating citizens’ human rights and disagreements about what constitutes a human rights violation. However, legal rights and human rights are distinguished by the fact that legal rights are granted and human rights are intrinsic. https://ironline.american.edu.

The workshop on " The Basic Understanding of Human Rights, Genocide/ KR and Building a Culture of Peace in the Community " was conducted in Kampot province,Cambodia for 31 young students from communities on 15 May 2016.  all student has learned the root of the human rights concept is the idea that all people should be able to live with dignity. Violations of our human rights amount to denials of our basic humanity. Khmer Rouge history contributed to the workshop for  participants to understand human rights in Cambodia in 1975-1979.
